Youth for Health Campaign
The Youth for Health Campaign draws together youth leaders from over 35 countries. It aims to connect youth across the world to form a global alliance of young health advocates and facilitate concerted actions for promoting health friendly policies. The campaign focuses on issues such as tobacco, diet and exercise, and HIV. Activities include appealing to the UN Secretary General to focus on health promotion issues, advocating for global smoke-free public places, encouraging peer to peer HIV education activities, and promoting healthy eating and physical activity policies. Global Film Initiative Grants
The Global Film Initiative has announced a call for the Summer 2009 cycle of its feature-film production grants program. This year, the Global Film Initiative will award production grants of up to $10,000 each to select applicants. The Initiative supports films that promise artistic excellence, exhibit accomplished storytelling and offer American audiences a variety of cultural perspectives on daily life around the world. The Initiative also seeks films that substantially contribute to the development of local film industries. Filmmakers use monies received from the Initiative to complete initial production and to pay for post-production costs, such as laboratory fees, sound mixing and access to modern editing systems. International Student Energy Summit
The International Student Energy Summit is a global form that focuses on sustainable resource management and the role that students will play in defining the future of energy development. The Summit aims to educate students about the current issues in global energy management, instill the inspiration, knowledge, and courage needed to challenge the current energy system; encourage collaboration with political, grassroots, and corporate communities to discuss cureent issues and create alternative solutions; and to unite students to lead the world to a sustainable energy future. YouthActionNet Global Fellowship Program
This is a great opportunity for young social entrepreneurs from around the world (ages 18029). Each year, YouthActionNet selects 20 young social entrepreneurs to participate in its Global Fellowship Program. These accomplished young leaders are distinguished by their records for success in achieving positive change in their communities, by their innovative approaches, and by their ability to mobilize their peers and community members in support of their social change visisons. Annual Youth Assembly at the UN
The United Nations is hosting its 6th annual assembly on August 5-7 of 2009. This is an opportunity for youth seeking to contribute to the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals, networking with global youth leaders, and practical information on NGO development and skills of social entrepreneurship in support of ‘better world’ activities. Student World Assembly
The Student World Assembly is an organization created to represent student globally. They provide a deliberative assembly where students around the world can exchange views, vote on global issues through online discussion forums, and then translate these views into meaningful action. They also sponsor an annual international youth convention held in various countries around the world.
